This Week at Metropolitan: February 10-14

Reminders:

NEXT WEEK: There is no school next week on Monday, 2/17, due to the federal holiday (there is a Just for Kids camp if you are interested, more information can be found on their website). There is also no school for students on Tuesday, 2/18 for parent-conferences for Firefly, Bee and Butterfly classes. You should have received a sign up from your child’s class. Ladybug conferences were moved to Thursday 2/13 due to a necessary teacher absence on 2/18. The 2 year-old teachers will be available to conference by appointment should you need to schedule a time to meet (as they just hosted conferences in December).

Snack:

Monday, 2/10: Cucumbers and Tziki or ranch

Tuesday, 2/11: Canteloupe

Wednesday, 2/12: Apple Sauce

Thursday, 2/13: Cheese and crackers

Friday, 2/14: Valentine’s Day special snacks.

On the Schedule:

This week we have our regular specials schedule with Movement, Music and Chapel AND visits from Bill Jenkins to explore Folk Music and the mail carrier to talk about how our Valentine’s get to our loved ones in the mail.

In the Classrooms:

The Sprouts and Caterpillars continue their deep dive into making art using many different methods (where the purpose is the process) and community helpers continue to be showcased in the dramatic play as well as talking about Valentine’s Day. The Caterpillars received a visit from the mail carrier and the Sprouts met Bill Jenkins.

The Bees continue prepping for Valentine’s Day and getting a special tour of the sanctuary with Rev. Janet and Pastor Doug.

Our Ladybugs are also prepping for Valentine’s when not busy with our special events.

Fireflies continue building but continue talking and prepping for Valentine’s day.

And Butterflies are learning about Kandinsky and beginning to buzz about the letter “Bb”.

I will add photos to this post throughout the week, so come back to see what’s happening.

Warmly, Kristen
