This Week at Metropolitan: March 16-20

Well, these are certainly interesting times while everyone adjusts to the new normal. For now, I continue to monitor the news and talk with church officials, our state licensing and department of health bodies, and other area school administrators to determine how schools move forward in the weeks ahead. At this time, I am simply waiting for more information to make decisions for our school. I know DCPS has already announced closure through April 1st, however, I am waiting until next week to determine if we need to extend our shut down beyond our planned Spring Break. To be clear, while it is very likely that our time apart will be extended beyond Spring Break, I plan to wait and make these decisions as we get more epidemiological information over the next week that helps better inform my decisions.

With that in mind, this week, I have asked for the teachers to reach out to their classes with ideas for home activities. I will be sending out a communication to the entire school with some of the suggestions. Next week was our planned Spring Break, so you may not hear from us during that week. If our time apart extends beyond Spring Break, I will provide additional details about how the teachers will continue to reach out to the students moving forward.

In the meantime, get outside! Enjoy the weather and sunshine. I hope to continue seeing many of you as I walk in the evenings (I enjoyed seeing Hopkins and Whit yesterday). Stay in touch and I hope to see everyone soon.

Warmly, Kristen

Reminders:

The tuition deposit for 2020-2021 is due. The church mail has been suspended while the building is closed, so I may not receive any checks mailed to the building for a while so if you get a reminder and have already mailed it, please just let me know.
